Celebrities on Facebook – Coronation Street, Downton Abbey and Love/Hate

Coronation Street, Love/Hate and Downton Abbey are heavily active on social media platforms, as are their stars. ……. posting very frequently on Facebook. Not just updates on upcoming story lines but behind the scenes filming and photo’s, interviews with cast members and unseen footage. We are ever so closer to our favorite soaps and our favorite characters.

Coronation Street

Corrie have a strategic Facebook campaign. They post on the days that corrie are not on air to tease us in what is coming next. The biggest story line recently was Tyrone and Kirsty. The plot was ongoing and left viewers and fans furious. The cast photographed for Facebook in a ”free tyron” campaign

The Corrie team use Facebook and Twitter to keep interest at an all time high, make their audience feel involved and closer to the show more than ever!  Go Corrie.

Love/Hate

Love/hate is a crime drama based right here in Dublin. It depicts the growth of organised crime in post boom Ireland. Considering the show is in its very early years they are catapulting through our media streams, especially online. While on Facebook Love/Hate has over 10,000 likes, interestingly it has over 13,000 talking about it.

On Twitter Love/Hate was one of last year’s most popular Irish hashtags

Downton Abbey

Downton Abbey are huge on Facebook. They have 1,160,346 likes  66,418 talking ‘about this’. They put up character quotes on Facebook – ”Every mountain is unclimbable until someone climbs it. So every ship is unsinkable until it sinks.” Lord Grantham and they tend to be humourous on Facebook – showing real scene images with not so real captions

In general it would seem ITV have a very strong social media presence, with all of their programs on separate facebook and twitter pages. They encrypt their pictures with ITV logo’s and text and have content for each storyline / character.

We are ever so closer to our favorite soaps and our favorite characters through the powers of social media and in this instance Facebook trumps other platforms
